My photographic journey has been a lifelong one starting in my childhood with roaming the streets of my Bronx neighborhood and studying the black and white images in the Daily News.
I discovered I could focus on the details of my environment through the camera and capture unique moments. These are meaningful to me and are glimpses into the story of the locations and the people I photograph.
Time spent at the Fashion Institute of Technology expanded my vision. Exposure to renowned photographers work especially Irving Penn’s still lifes, Richard Avedon’s portraits, and Robert Franks’s street photography influenced my decision to embrace photography as my art form.
My photography explores what I find captivating in nature and everyday scenes with stills and motion. I travel everywhere with my camera to experience the atmosphere of the landscapes of my destinations. The beauty of the countryside and the faces of the people of Italy, Germany and Africa added to my portfolio. Travel, Portraiture and additional galleries can be viewed on my web site salimages.com.
